PERFORMANCE COACH  (SMALLBORE RIFLE)

CONTRACT FOR SERVICES

(UP TO 130 DAYS PER YEAR)

 

The sportscotland institute of sport is working with Scottish Target Shooting Performance Programme and is currently looking to engage a World Class Smallbore Rifle Performance Coach to train Scottish athletes in their preparations to compete successfully at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games and to gain selection to British Shooting teams.  The Coach will deliver coaching to key athletes in a training environment and also at competitions around the world as they prepare for the Games.

 

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

·         An internationally recognised coaching qualification e.g ISSF and/or a proven track record of coaching and improving performance athletes

·      The ability to lead and deliver quality practice to the Scottish athletes

·         Ability to communicate effectively

·         Experience of selecting athletes for teams and competitions

·         Passion for the sport and for Scottish success

 

NOTES:

·     This Contract for Services role is available until 31 March 2017 and will be reviewed thereafter with a view to extension through to 30 April 2018 subject to agreement.

·       Requires up to 130 days per year which will be paid at a daily rate of £170. Reasonable travelling and other expenses will be paid in line with sportscotland’s Expenses Policy.

·        The successful Performance Coach will work directly with the Shooting Performance Programme Manager and the sportscotland High Performance Manager for Shooting.

·         There will be an expectation that the Performance Coach will perform necessary administrative duties in line with the role and make recommendations to the Shooting High Performance Group on athlete selections for competitions and teams.

·         There will be an expectation that the Performance Coaches will perform necessary administrative duties in line with the role.

·         It may be possible for one Performance Coach to fulfil one or more of these posts but this would be dependent upon experience and the capacity of the individual to manage potentially conflicting schedules.

Office Manager

 

Scottish Target Shooting (STS) are looking to recruit an Office Manager on a full time basis (but with an option to job share) to manage the office at Caledonia House, lead in certain operational areas and manage the day to day booking keeping of the governing body. Scottish Target Shooting is a new governing body for sport, registered with Companies House, following the merger of multiple voluntary associations.

 

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with experience in HR, administration and bookkeeping to work in the office of a new governing body presenting opportunities for the successful candidate to lead areas of governance in a new and expanding company. As outlined in the accompanying job specification, experience in administration and bookkeeping is important with knowledge of good governance being a desirable asset to help grow a sport that is part of both the Commonwealth and Olympic Games and which Scotland has a long and proud heritage of winning medals at these major games. IT skills will be essential as the successful candidate will be required to work with a membership database system and accounting software. Communications skills will also be key as the position will be required to respond to membership enquiries as well as leading the governing body’s social media activity.

 

The post will be line managed by the Chief Operating Officer of STS, receiving bookkeeping supporting from the Finance Director and general support from members of the Board. The Office Manager will feature a starting salary of £25k (FTE), pension contribution and 28 days annual leave. The successful candidate will be required to work from the STS office located at Caledonia House in South Gyle, Edinburgh but will be required to travel as and when required to fulfil the role of the post. Scottish Target Shooting (STS) are looking to recruit a Chief Operating Officer on a full time basis to manage the operations of the governing body. Scottish Target Shooting is a new governing body for sport, registered with Companies House, following the merger of multiple voluntary associations.

 

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with strong governance and wide ranging sports development experience to help grow a sport that is part of both the Commonwealth and Olympic Games and which Scotland has a long and proud heritage of winning medals at these major games. Project management experience will be a necessity, as well as the ability to foster partnerships, think strategically and implement strong governance procedures.

 

The post will be line managed by the Chair of STS, be accountable to the Board of Directors and feature a starting salary of £38k, pension contribution and 28 days annual leave. The successful candidate will be required to work from the STS office located at Caledonia House in South Gyle, Edinburgh but will be required to travel as and when required to fulfil the role of the post.  Further information can be found in the accompanying job specification.
